Spotted Lake located near Osoyoos, British Columbia has one of the highest mineral concentrations in the world. Appropriately named for its appearance, the unusual qualities of the lake are a result of massively high concentrations of salts, titanium, calcium, sulphates and other minerals that form “walkways” around pools.

Tokyo Hotaru Festival 2012 took place recently, releasing 100,000 blue LED lights to float in the Sumida River. The bulbs rolled along the waves of the river bank, mimicking hotaru (the Japanese word for “fireflies”), for the festival that celebrates the Japanese tradition of watching fireflies float along a watercourse. The spectacular event lit up the waterway with a sparkling sapphire radiance against the night sky.

The blue sphere sitting on the United States, reaching from about Salt Lake City, Utah to Topeka, Kansas, has a diameter of about 860 miles (about 1,385 kilometers) , with a volume of about 332,500,000 cubic miles (1,386,000,000 cubic kilometers). The sphere includes all the water in the oceans, seas, ice caps, lakes and rivers as well as groundwater, atmospheric water, and even the water in you, your dog, and your tomato plant.

It’s not that often that I actually like a boat design, but this is actually something. Bondish !
The 1955 18’ Chris Craft Cobra model was the first Chris Craft to use any fiberglass in its construction. The gold engine hatch and the tail fin are fiberglass. Construction of the rest of the boat was standard in most Chris Craft boats of the day, consisting of oak, mahogany framing, and mahogany bottom, side and deck planking. The bottom is double planked and sides are seam battened. Cobras were only in production for about 9 months, as they did not sell very well. Classic Chris Craft wood boats.
