Shabono structures by the Yanomami
From southern Venezuela and northern Brazil, the Yanomami built Shabonos as temporary dwellings for the whole community. Built using thatched palm leaves and wood these structures were built in clearings in the jungle. Each family would have their own personal area within the Shabono.

Spotted Lake located near Osoyoos, British Columbia has one of the highest mineral concentrations in the world. Appropriately named for its appearance, the unusual qualities of the lake are a result of massively high concentrations of salts, titanium, calcium, sulphates and other minerals that form “walkways” around pools.

An Arab sheikh has had his first name carved into the sand of the island he owns in letters so large they can be seem from space. Hamad bin Hamdan al Nahyan (the articles are calling him Al Ahyan, but that’s incorrect) is a member of the ruling family of Abu Dhabi. The letters are half a mile high. It’s interesting, though, that he chose “HAMAD” instead of “حمد.”
